Safe not stuck!

Lockdown (day 5) - Katie Reith

This blog is going to be short and sweet! Lets get straight to it - Lockdown has been weird! I mean, it's had it's high points and low points, but all in all, i guess so far, its been OK.
I've been trying to fill my days - Mostly by video calling friends, doing some reading, putting on make up ;) and bouncing on my trampoline!

I've also been keeping up with my school work!! Well, most of the time.... except that day when i decided to throw myself a fashion show in my room when my mum thought i was working! (whoops! lets not tell her!) I've also discovered Joe wicks' work outs, which I've been doing every morning....oh and to top it off - I've been singing .....A LOT!

Trying really hard to keep busy - but i have been complaining to my mum about being stuck at home... then she reminds me that i'm not STUCK at home - i'm SAFE at home! (Good reminder)

I think we all need a little bit of courage right now... everyone is so stressed and i think a little bravery and reassurance is what we need right now! I want to share with you some of my favourite bible passages that i turn to when i need encouragement - Psalm 5, Psalm 11 and Psalm 86. I hope they encourage you too....

           Psalm 5: verses 1 - 3, 11-12.
Listen to my words, Lord,
    consider my lament.
 Hear my cry for help,
    my King and my God,
    for to you I pray.
 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
    in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly.

But let all who take refuge in you be glad
  let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
    that those who love your name may rejoice in you

Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
  you surround them with your favour as with a shield.

Psalm 11
In the Lord I take refuge.
    How then can you say to me:
    “Flee like a bird to your mountain.
For look, the wicked bend their bows;
   they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
    at the upright in heart.
When the foundations are being destroyed,
 what can the righteous do?”

The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.
He observes everyone on earth;
  his eyes examine them.
The Lord examines the righteous,
    but the wicked, those who love violence,
    he hates with a passion.
On the wicked he will rain
  fiery coals and burning sulphur;
   a scorching wind will be their lot.

For the Lord is righteous,
   he loves justice;
   the upright will see his face.

Psalm 86
Hear me, Lord, and answer me,
    for I am poor and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you
    save your servant who trusts in you.
You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord,
    for I call to you all day long.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord,
    for I put my trust in you.

You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
    abounding in love to all who call to you.
Hear my prayer, Lord;
    listen to my cry for mercy.
When I am in distress, I call to you,
    because you answer me.

Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;
    no deeds can compare with yours.
All the nations you have made
    will come and worship before you, Lord;
    they will bring glory to your name.

For you are great and do marvellous deeds;
    you alone are God.

Teach me your way, Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
    I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your love toward me;
    you have delivered me from the depths,
    from the realm of the dead.

Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God;
    ruthless people are trying to kill me-
    they have no regard for you.
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
    slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Turn to me and have mercy on me;
    show your strength in behalf of your servant;
save me, because I serve you
    just as my mother did.
Give me a sign of your goodness,
   that my enemies may see it and be put to shame,
    for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

I hope everyone is feeling well...

Katie :)
